THESE SCALES WIN!

Happy Friday to you all!  I'm so happy you have chosen to spend part of your day with me!  I get to watch Trevor today, so there is no telling what adventures I may go on today.  Whatever they are, I am sure they will entail hunting, playing cars or painting.  We even just have fun throwing dominoes at a bucket and seeing who can get the most "buckets".

One adventure I always dread going on, is the one to the scales!  That's spooky stuff right there.  But, if one must do it then you may as well have some really neat scales to do it with.  :)

The Ozeri Rev Digital Bathroom Scale with Electro-Mechanical Weight Dial is the world's first weight scale to incorporate a synchronized electro-mechanical Dial and LCD that automatically illuminate and point to your weight in lbs and kg, for easy-to read results in all light conditions and from any angle.  I'm not too sure about the "any angle" part.  I don't want anyone standing off to the side of me to being able to see the angle.  LOL

Aside from liking the look of these scales, I like that you do not have to tap them or do anything to turn them on.  You just step on them and get your weight.  My daughter gave me a nice set of scales, but I had to kind of flip them up with my toe and let them fall to get them to come on.   I prefer no toe flipping.  :/

These scales may be purchased at Amazon   They do have a 5 star review on Amazon, so be sure to have a look-see at them.

WISHING MUCH LOVE AND HAPPINESS TO YOU!

Sore Throat Be Soothed!

Happy Day Dear Dragonfly Tale Readers!  As I write you today, I do so from my beautiful home state of West Virginia!  I had not seen my "WV family" since October, it was way past time.  If you have never visited the mountains of West Virginia, I encourage you to do so.  John Denver did not write a song about us for nothin', ya know. :)

Disclosure: I received this product as part of an advertorial.

The product I am reviewing for you today is really rich in history.  The Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops were originally made in 1870 by.... wait for it... wait for it...  THE PINE BROTHERS!!!!

Mr. Pine was tired of having the sore throat and set out to do something about it.  He and his brother were German candy makers by trade.  They had great success with their lozenges.

Over the course of time the company has traded hands many times. The original recipe is now being produced by Three Sisters Home Products.

I received the lozenges in wild cherry flavor.  Although, I have been blessed not to have the sore throat since receiving the product, I did have a mouth ulcer from eating spicey food, and the lozenges did aid in reducing the pain of that.  They are quite tasty and kind of have a firm "gummy bear" consistency.  They take over one hour to melt in your mouth.  I like them.  I also like the packaging they come in.

This tried and true tradition can be purchased at most pharmacies as well as Amazon.

WISHING MUCH LOVE AND HAPPINESS TO YOU ALL!

YOU NEED A LOOPROPE

Hello dear ones.  I hope today is going well with you.  I am doing well.  I am a happy person, there are some things in my life that I am not happy with, but I am happy.  I hope you take happiness away from Dragonfly Tales.

I was fortunate enough to receive a LoopRope to review.  Every bungee cord out there needs to be replaced with one of these!
I believe this is a product that all households should have.  They are so versatile.  And, unlike when using a typical bungee cord, I don't get that "someone's gonna lose an eye" feeling.  It's true! Every time I see someone stretching one of those bungee cord's beyond the point they should be, "A Christmas Story" runs through my mind!  ha!

This is a stretchy rope with loops.  One can hang things from the loops, or one can use it simply as a way of securing items down.

I have to take my trash to a dumpster.  I have my grandson's wagon to do this, but the bags would fall off on the way to the dumpster, but; not any more!  I am able to easily secure the bags down with the LoopRope.

These are ideal for campers, hikers or those just needing to secure items, such as when moving.  They even make an awesome clothes line!

I had a corner section of my room that I wanted to section off, I put two small hooks in the wall attached a LoopRope , using the clasps that comes with it.  I then attached a pretty curtain to the rope.  See... so many uses!  What have you used you LoopRope for?

Thank you Jeff for being so kind as to send me a LoopRope, so that I might give my honest opinion of your wonderful product!

WISHING MUCH LOVE AND HAPPINESS TO YOU ALL!

POPCORN AND BEARS.... OH MY!

Dear readers, I hope that today finds you happy and healthy!  I am happy, and mostly healthy.  Most of my "issues", say;  "comes with age."  LOL

Anyway,  today I have another Trevor story for ya!  If you are new to my blog, Trevor is my 4 year old grandson.  You can read more about him HERE and HERE .

My funnest days, are the ones I spend with my grandchildren.  If you have any, you can probably relate.  With Trevor being the youngest, he is most often the one I have the most "childish" fun with.

He has a very, very active imagination, which I think is awesome.  I shot off a quick facebook post last week about him taking the first bite of my food and telling me he "had to check it to see if it was poisoned".  I thought maybe he had been a King's Taster in a former life. (ha!)

This past Saturday I got to watch him, while his parents went out to dinner.  He was eating hull-less popcorn, and decided to throw a piece at me,  we then tried to throw pieces of popcorn in each others mouths....one thing led to another and in the end it was a full blown popcorn battle, we had popcorn from one end of the living room to the other.  If we caught the other we would grind the popcorn into the others face, hair, whatever we could reach.  Yes, it was a mess, and yes I smelled like sour cream popcorn when I left, but oh how fun it was!  And, the dog was happy to clean up the mess!

Now, I told you that story so I could tell you this story.  A little later in the evening, Trevor found some popcorn that had been missed in the clean up.  He said "Mim, I have found some bear scat".   BLAHAHAHAHA  The conversation went something like this:

T:  Mim, I have found some bear scat!
M:  Oh, no do we have a bear in the house?
T:  Yes, four of them.
M:  The scat is white, does that mean they are polar bear?   Ha!
T:  Yes, and they are the meanest kind.
T:  We are gonna have to kill them.
M:  Okay

We are now both equipped with plastic swords, which we trade back and forth depending on which one Trevor feels will be to his advantage at the time.

We are whispering, about where we think they are and decide one of them is in the bathroom.  He tells me to stay behind him and he enters first, I follow and we slash the air several times as we take down the bear.  We are rewarded with some bear teeth,  which Trevor holds out his hand and shows me how big and sharp they are.  (Imagination!)

We then had to determine where the next bears were, he looked at his hand, and says "My map says we have to go through the cornfield, and over the sidewalk,"  which took us to the kitchen, where we once again slashed at bear, and even a few bats that hung from the ceiling.  He held out his hand that time for me to see the paw he had got, and we talked about how soft it was.  (Imagination!)

He then said, "now to get this next bear, we have to get down on our bellies and crawl."  And, that is where he lost his back-up.   LOL!

We did manage to rid the house of bear, and all was right in the world again!

I limped to my car, and the next day, I really did feel like I had been wrestling with bear.  :)

Playing make believe is sooooo much fun, if you haven't tried it for awhile I encourage you to give it a go!  One never knows what kind of wild animals may be lurking!

Did you know bears have scat?  I just thought it was bear poo.  LOL

What kinds of activities do you play with your children/grandchildren?

WISHING YOU MUCH LOVE AND HAPPINESS!

WE HAVE A GUEST!

Happy Saturday!  Welcome to another edition of Dragonfly Tales.
Guess What?  Today, you aren't going to read my ramblings!
I invited a very dear woman named Gina to be our guest blogger today.  Gina is a doTerra Essential Oil consultant, and one of the nicest women one would want to meet.

With so much sickness going around, I asked Gina to give us some insight as to what doTerra has to offer in the way of helping to prevent illness.  Ladies and Gentlemen without further ado; Gina!

********************************************************************

Your body has an amazing natural defense system specifically designed to guard you against millions of bacteria, microbes, viruses, toxins and parasites all laying siege to invade your body. You probably wouldn’t give much thought to it, except that
occasionally it becomes run down and you get sick.

Did You Know…

There are many things you can do to naturally enhance your immune system. One simple way is paying attention to what you put in your mouth. Eating plenty of fruits and
vegetables can help you get a healthy dose of antioxidants, which can help protect your cells from free radicals and molecules that can damage cells.

Another Great Idea…

A daily multivitamin will help ensure that your body is getting all of the building blocks for a healthy immune system. Some nutrients that may be especially important for immune system health include selenium, vitamins A, C, D, and E, zinc and magnesium.

One Of My Favorites…

Essential oils can be used to clean counter tops and doorknobs, or diffused to purify stale air. Additionally, essential oils can be used topically or internally as directed to boost your body’s own natural defenses. Used aromatically, essential oils can also reduce stress, which is a key contributor to weakening the immune system.

Something We Are Learning…

Processed foods such as fast foods, snack foods, candy, and soda don’t provide much in the way of vitamins, fiber, or other nutrients. And they often contain high levels of sugar, and other additives and chemicals that are not good for your body. Choose nutrient-rich
foods such as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.

We Gotta Move On…

One simple way to strengthen your immune system is by exercising. Getting regular exercise can also reduce stress and help lower your risk of osteoporosis, heart disease, and certain types of cancer. Exercise moderately a few times a week.

Time To Turn In…

Without enough sleep, your immune system may not have the resources it needs to night off illness. Most adults need about seven to nine hours of sleep each night.

Clean Up Your Act…

One of the easiest ways to help your immune system fight illness is to wash your hands regularly. It’s also one of the best ways to keep yourself and others healthy. Be sure to use soap and clean, running water, and wash for at least 20 seconds. If you don’t have access to soap and water, use a cleansing essential oil, such as doTERRA’s On Guard Essential Oil Blend.  http://www.whole-wellness-coach.com/

After-Action Review

Disclosure: I received this product as part of an advertorial.

Hello, and welcome to another product review by Dragonfly Tales.
I am honored to have you stop in today!

Today's review is one that task list makers will find interesting.
On this site, one can do the following:
  1. List accomplishments of the day
  2. List lessons learned
  3. List ways one can improve
  4. List what changes could be made

The one change I would like to see for this, is a place to list the tasks one wants to accomplish for the day.  Studies have shown that if one makes a list of tasks, they are more likely to do them.

I find this to be true for myself, as I like to mark things off as I do them.  Sometimes, if I do something extra, I'll write it down, just so I can mark it off.  Ha!

This product is designed to help enforce discipline.  I think it would be especially helpful to those that have children, as a way of keeping track of all their activities.  Home schoolers could use this product for keeping track of their children's lesson plans.

They also offer a Professional Mentor that would benefit those that are in charge of others, or are part of a professional team.

If you are interested in analyzing yourself, and enjoy seeing what your accomplishments of the day were they offer a free trial.

You may further review this product here .

Wishing much love and happiness for you!

Vicki

GIVE YOUR SKIN SOME VITAMIN C

Happy Saturday!

Whew the week has been somewhat of a nightmare for me.  I was snowed in for 2 days, then when I did go out, I got my car hung up in some snow piled on one of the side streets. People tried to push me out, put salt under my tires, cardboard, nothing worked I was just there spinnin' my wheels!  I was sideways in the street, it was nerve racking.  I called the tow company they said 45 minutes to 1 hour before they could get there.  I was like; I cannot block the road for that long, so I made a 911 call, and told the operator I just needed for the police to know that I am blocking a road.  He said "I have someone coming to help you".  Ahh, that was music to my ears.  It was shortly thereafter that a police cruiser pulled up, and an officer and another gentleman got out, also the beautician that was suppose to be doing my hair came out, all 3 got me shoved off of the tiny little snow mound that my car was stuck on.  So, yeh, it was "Nightmare on Toledo and West Central" for awhile. LOL!  But, all is well today and I did not so much as open my front door.

So there was a review of my week, now to the good stuff.  I was given the opportunity to review an Organic Vitamin C Serum
by La Beaut'e Pure

Disclosure: I received this product as part of an advertorial.

I have been having a really rough time with my skin this winter.  It has been just hideously dry.  So I was really glad to review this product for the past 3 weeks.  I use it every day, but you can wait 72 hours before using it again, as it does not wash off.   My skin looks a little bit plastic-y after I use the serum.  Like you can tell there is a barrier there.

I took the product to my dermatologist appointment, and he saw no reason for me not to use it.  So, good news there.

I like it, I am also using it on my mangled cuticles to aid in the healing process.

There is a lot of information about the product on Amazon.  where it has a 5 star review.  So I'll not rattle on about that.  My main job as a reviewer is just to let ya'll know how it worked.  It worked great for me, you may get different results.  But if you are looking for somewhere to start with skin repair, I would give this a go.

Much love and happiness to you!

Vicki

A CAUTIONARY "CUTICLES" TALE

Hello!  Thanks for being here!  This is a Cautionary Tale from Dragonfly Tales.  I have tales to tell!

I am one of those beauty blog reader, YouTube beauty watcher wannabe's.  I have learned how to do some pretty amazing things. Ummm, okay maybe not amazing... I've learned things to buy in order to do amazing things.   I've learned that unless you have a sizable make-up budget these amazing products can be a little out of reach.

I did come across a blog post written by a woman that does her own manicures.  She explained step by step how to do a mani at home and I felt certain I could do it.

I have never owned a pair of cuticle trimmers in my life.  So, that was where the trouble started.  Those things are EXTREMELY pretty sharp.

Although I really didn't know what I was doing, I commenced to cutting, cutting being a key word here, my cuticles, and some actual skin around my cuticles.

I know that cuticles are not suppose to be bleed, so as I sat there with blood dripping off not one, but two of my fingers, I assumed I had not properly performed my first home manicure.  My manicure came to a rather abrupt halt,  because I had to slather on antibiotic ointment and apply two band-aids.  I did do one finger right, so that leaves 7 fingers with cuticles still intact.  And, I will gnaw those cuticles off with my teeth before I attempt another "trim".

You may be wondering; what happened to my cuticle trimmers?  I now keep them by my bed.  Should I be attacked through the night, I am gonna grab those instruments of pain and start whackin' away at the assailant's cuticles. They will be sorry they ever messed with me!

I am doing away with the "Beware of dog" sign, and replacing it with "I have cuticle trimmers, and I'm not afraid to use them"!  I feel safe.

My 2 fingers are still reallllllllly sore.  Those things really need to come with a "use with caution" notice.  :)  Or, maybe you could practice on someone you don't really like very much, first  .

If you do decide to trim your own cuticles, don't say you haven't been warned.  ha!

Much love and happiness to you all.

Vicki

AM I BEING GOOD?

Hello Dear Dragonfly Tale Friends,   I hope today finds you well and happy!

I have something wearing on my mind.  Something I heard at the grocery store today that really made me feel kind of sad.

I heard a little boy say to his mom, "Am I being good?"  His mom replied "yes, you are being good".

I found myself wanting to wrap my arms around the little guy and telling him; "you are always good".

I think all too often we say to our kids, (e.g.) "if you're good, you can get a treat".  I really feel that we need to rephrase this to something like; "If you show good manners at the store today you can get a treat".

It is a child's actions that are either "good" or "bad", "proper" or "improper" etc.  Children are always good.  They are innocent little people and we, as their parents, should be bolstering their self image.

I don't believe we should ever say "you are a bad boy/girl",  when a child does something that we deem inappropriate.  If one needs to convey the message that what the child did was not acceptable, phrase it in such a way as it shows that the action was "bad", NOT THE CHILD.

A child should know that they are "good", they shouldn't have to ask.

And, by the way, you are good, too.

Until next time...

Vicki
